BBC, needed to modernize its outdated digital asset management (DAM) system in order to scale for greater number of users, digital images, and reliability. BBC partnered with Andela to create a centralized image repository that replaced outdated Jarvis and Elvis systems, with a new platform using cutting edge technologies like Scala, Java, AWS, and React.
The Andela team architected and implemented solutions that streamlined image aggregation, ensured real-time image availability with correct metadata, and improved usage rights management.
The result is a robust platform supporting nearly 10,000 users and manages over 2.5million images. The new DAM significantly reduced BBC’s operational complexities and costs related to image rights. This also increased the efficiency for media asset usage and bolstered compliance and auditing capabilities.
