TWC expands global engineering coverage from 3 to 15 countries
The Weather Company (TWC), a leader in global weather forecasting, faced intense market competition and needed to rapidly expand its engineering team to incorporate advanced technologies like LLM, Gen AI, and supercomputers. To manage the colossal data flow of 100 billion requests per second and maintain reliability, TWC needed a globally distributed engineering team.
TWC selected Andela to implement its Adaptive Hiring model for an initial project to rewrite a CMS app. The work exceeded expectations, leading TWC to expand the partnership to over 100 global Andela engineers, many from untapped markets in Africa and Latin America.
The global expansion strategy provided engineering coverage across time zones and key roles, including QA, AI/ML, DevOps, Data Science, and more. This allowed TWC to scale its operations from three to 15 countries, achieving a 400% increase in global engineering coverage.
